Yobe: 55-Year Old Husband Hacks Wife to Death With Machete
55-year-old Hamidu Ali has killed his 40-year-old wife with a machete in Babangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe state for no known reason.
Confirming this on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed that the incident happened on Friday morning at 11 a.m.
He further stated that the suspect who is currently on the run is being chased after by the police.
He said; “On June 28, 2025, at about 11 a.m., Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call from inhabitants of Koriyel Village, Babangida, Tarmuwa LGA, indicating that Hamidu Ali, 55, attacked and macheted his wife, 40, to death for unknown reasons and fled.
“Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.”

Additionally, the spokesperson disclosed another case imvolving two men who were arrested after killing a victim whom they accused of stealing a phone and a power bank in Fika Local Government Area.
The both suspects, however, confesses to the alleged crime and we’re being interrogated.
He added; “On June 27, 2025, at about 5 p.m., operatives of the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Musa Sule, 25, and Muntari Suleman, 30, of Ngalda Town, Fika LGA, for the brutal killing of a victim over alleged theft of a cellphone and power bank.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime, and investigations are ongoing at the State CID for subsequent prosecution.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in reaction, pleaded with residents in the state to not take laws into their hands.
He advocated for a peaceful resolution no matter the issue while urging citizens to report issues to the law enforcement agencies and support them in their work.
