CoAS Oluyede Urges Youths to Consider Building Career in Military
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian youths to consider joining the military to enhance their discipline and patriotism.
Oluyede made the call through Brigadier General A. A. Musa, Commander of the 108 Division Equipment Service, who represented him during a public engagement organised by the Nigerian Army at Idris Koko Technical College, Farfaru, Sokoto, as part of its ongoing civil-military relations initiative.
According to him, joining the military would play important role in instilling discipline, patriotism, and pushing national service.
The chief of Army Staff further disclosed that the event was important to enlighten students on the role of the military in building the nation (allowing them interact with personnels) as well as to encourage positive youth development.
He emphasized that the initiative is hoped to push more young Nigerians to consider a career in the Army and understand the importance of discipline, patriotism, and service to the nation.
The event was attended by students, teachers, Army personnel, and government officials.
Musa Lemu, the Administrative Officer of the 8 Provost Group Office, who was also present at the event, spoke on “The Need to Avoid Criminal Associations and Criminality.
He urged students to stay away from crime and focus on their education and personal development.
Also, Lieutenant E. O. Ojo presented on “Civil-Military Relations and Community Interventions by the Nigerian Army.”
He highlighted various efforts by the Army to reach humanity; free medical outreach, distribution of educational materials, and the construction of boreholes in water-scarce communities.

The State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education who was represented by the Director of Quality Assurance at the State Ministry of Science and Technology, Mallam Musa Koko, lauded the Army for showing maximum interest in reshaping minds of the young people.
He said; “We are in an age where technology and discipline are crucial. Programs like this help our students to envision meaningful futures and inspire them to contribute to national development.”
