2027: Coalition Group Not Capable of Unseating Tinubu – Wike
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has described the coalition group as lightweights with no real influence in their constituencies.
He stated that the group has no chance of unseating Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The minister stated this during an interview on Channels Television Special Politics Today programme on Friday.
Questioning what contributions the leaders of the coalition have made over the years, Wike said;
“Who are those who left the PDP to the ADC? I am not going to speak for the APC. But let me take the people one by one. Which of them that you called the heavyweight of the PDP delivered his local government and his state in the last election?.”
The minster slammed former Senate President, David Mark, who is now the Interim National Chairman of the ADC asking how the group thinks him worthy when he could not win for the PDP.
He stated that Mark was not worthy of being rated as a heavy weight.
“How can you rate David Mark as a big weight of PDP? In his local constituency, his daughter ran under the APC and she won. But he, as leader of the party, couldn’t win for the PDP. Two things are involved: it is either he has been playing the PDP for long or he is not on ground,” he said.
He added; “I never told you that as a government, we don’t have challenges. But first, who are these people telling Nigerians we are suffering? Were they not the same people, when in government, put Nigerians into this suffering?
“Amaechi was a governor for eight years, a speaker for eight years and a minister for eight years. He never knew Nigerians were suffering then. In fact, Amaechi was one of the persons who championed Jonathan’s removal. He has even said it openly that we kicked him off.”
According to Wike, Tinubu inherited economic problems which is what has affected Nigeria since his assuming office.
Urging Nigerians to be patient with Tinubu as he described his critics as hypocrites, the minister added that 2 years in office is not enough to rate Tinubu a failure.
According to him, Tinubu is trying to solve inherited problems stating that Nigerians are not blaming the right person.
He stated that the blames should go to who caused the troubles and not Tinubu who is simply trying to solve them.
