ADC Winning as Former Yobe Minister, Ex-First Lady Dump PDP

Barely a week since the launch of the coalition movement which has some top politicians in it, most of whom are former members of the PDP, the African Democratic Party (ADC) has won the heart of many Nigerians as more politicians keep defecting.

A former Minister of Police Affairs in Yobe State, Adamu Maina Waziri, has officially defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and submitted his membership card to join the ADC.

The Yobe state two-time governorship candidate under the PDP, announced his resignation at Dogotebo Ward in Potiskum Local Government Area, stated that his resignation follows the provision in the party’s constitution that required him to submit his resignation letter in his ward.

Declaring that the decision was tough, Waziri urged the new chairman whom he called his boy to come join them in the ADC, in the future.

He said; “I have decided to resign my membership because of the provision in the party’s constitution, which requires me to come to my ward — Dogotebo in Potiskum, located in a primary school that is older than me — to submit my resignation letter and formalise the action I took about a week ago.

“I want to assure you that this is a very hard decision. But the young man standing in for the chairman is one of my boys, and I urge them to join us in the near future.”

On the other hand, the wife of a former governor of Adamawa State and a native of Yobe, Zainab Boni-Haruna also left the PDP.

The former first lady announced her resignation at Kukar Gadu community in Fika LGA and formally joined the ADC.

She stated that she had handed her membership card and formally resigned from the party as she urged others to join the ADC which she described as “the moving train”.

She said; “I have come to my home and village to inform them that I have ceased to be a member of the People’s Democratic Party. I have tendered my letter of resignation and handed over my membership card to the party.

“I urge them to join the new train of the coalition, called Sabuwar Tafiya (new journey) in Hausa, to elect leaders who will bring better governance to our people.”
