Bandits Disguise as Peace Group to Terrorize, Kill 8 in Plateau
A suspected bandit’s deadly ambush on Kukawa village, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State has left no fewer than 8 people dead while a group of vigilante pursuant are no where to be found.
The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Monday in the border community between Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Taraba states.
According to the reports gathered by NEWSMAX, the gunmen had arrived on motorcycles identifying themselves as members of one “Hulabe” group and claimed they were on a mission to protect the village from bandits terrorizing the region.
According to the village head, Mallam Isa who confirmed the incident, the disguised bandits counted up to 300.
According to the village head, the bandits claimed to be protecting the villagers form bandits while being the bandits themselves as they raided the whole village and stormed off to a nearby bush.
He said they killed traders while they were trying to run to hide.
Mallam Isa expressed sadness over the turn out of events as the raiders made away with goods worth millions while destroying the remains and rendering residents helpless.
Sadly, some vigilante group had tried to chase after the bandits while they were trying to run across Wase and Kanam LGAs but haven’t been found as at the time of reporting this.
The Secretary of the Kanam Development Association, Shehu Kanam, who also commented on the incident disclosed that has suffered several relentless assaults in the last few months.
He expressed dismay over the situation of things and raised concern over the rising insecurity in the country and the region.
Residents have cried out over the continued loss of lives and destruction of properties by these relentless groups as they cried to the government for quick intervention and help finding the vigilantes who chased after the bandits.
