As Christ Triumphed Over Death, So Shall Nigeria Triumph Over Every Challenge We Face - Tinubu

Tinubu Orders Shettima to Fly Back Buhari’s Remains to Nigeria

Shortly after the tragic passing of Nigeria’s immediate past president, Mohammadu Buhari, president Tinubu has issued a swift directive to Vice President Shettima to bring back his body (Buhari) from the UK.

Tinubu ordered Shettima to go to the UK immediately to return the remains of Buhari to Nigeria as contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

NEWSMAXNG reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed that Buhari passed away in London at about 4:30 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after a prolonged illness.

The statement read in part; “President Tinubu has spoken with Mrs. Aishat Buhari, the widow of the late President, to express his heartfelt condolences.”

Tinubu also directed that national flags across the country be flown at half-mast.

Buhari was first a military Head of State from January 1984 to August 1985, and later a democratically elected President for two terms, beginning in 2015.

In 2023, Buhari left office and handed over President Tinubu.

However, reports has it that the late former president had battled health issues over the years and had been frequenting UK hospitals for medical attention.
