Two Suspects Arrested for Setting Osun Residents Up for Kidnap

The government of Kogi State has disclosed that it arrested two men in the Okunland area of the state who were suspected to have been tipping off kidnappers.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, where he revealed that the suspects were arrested after a previously arrested suspect Babatunde Aledare, confessed.

The two suspects reportedly confessed to the crime revealing that they set up their community members to be kidnapped.

He said; “Following the confession of Babatunde Aledare, two more informants have been arrested in the last 48 hours: they are Dare Okegbe and Lakutu Omobab Ajelesimi. Both suspects are also from Ayetoro Kiri and have confessed to working with kidnappers to set up members of their own community for abduction.”

According to the Commissioner, the arrest is part of the governments ongoing crackdown on kidnapping networks in the region.

He further assured that more suspects are likely to be arrested as investigations are still ongoing.

The government urged residents of the state to collaborate with security operators and their moves by reporting any suspicious activities around them.
