It is Easier to Break APC Head Than my Relationship With Peter Obi – Datti

The 2023 vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has clarified that there is and would never be a crack between he and Peter Obi, the Labour party presidential candidate in 2023.

Datti dismissed the claims stating that his relationship with Obi remains strong ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

This was contained in a clip trending on X.

In the video, Datti stated that it is easier for the head of APC to be broken than his relationship with Obi.

He further made it clear that he and Obi are still united, despite ongoing rumours of political rifts between them.

Additionally, the former vice president clarified that he is still a member of the Labour party as well as Peter Obi.

According to him, coalition is not a party therefore Peter Obi and him remain a part of the Labour party.

He emphasized that despite the fact that they have both attended meetings of the ADC, they remain under the umbrella of the labour party.

He said; “You are saying if there is a crack, there is no crack. And by the grace of God Almighty, there will never be a crack.

“It is easier to break the head of APC than to break the crack that exists between us.

“I stated clearly that as a loyal member to a party that has achieved what no party in Nigeria’s political history has achieved… this party is one not to be abandoned.

On the issue of coalition, Datti clarified that although he and Obi had attended some of the meetings, it doesn’t mean they left the Labour Party.

“A coalition is not a political party. To the best of my knowledge, Obi is still a member of Labour Party, and I am too,” he added.

Furthermore, Datti expressed interest in the reunion of all parties of the Labour Party following his meeting with the Labour party National Chairman, Julius Abure.

According to him, his reconciliation move is an evidence of his ambition and loyalty to the party and an example to ambitious and loyal members.

Meanwhile, Abure has confirmed that Datti has declared his intention to run for president in 2027 under the party.
