15-Year Old, Others Arrested For Attempting Kidnap in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 15-year-old Abdulraman Musa of Nguru, and 60-year-old man Adamu Orte from Machina, Yobe State over a suspected kidnap attempt.

The duo were said to have called and threatened a man whom they called with an unknown number in Song Local Government Area in Adamawa State.

According to the police in a sunday statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who revealed that the command sorang into action after receiving a call from the threaten Song resident.

The command stated; “This is following a complaint received from one Hassan Musa Dabutu of Song LGA, who reported receiving threatening calls from an unknown subscriber, that they are coming to kidnap him unless he pays a certain amount of money.

“The complainant also raised concern that his family had earlier suffered a series of kidnappings, where a total sum of N20m was paid as ransom to secure the release of abducted family members.”

The Spokesperson further stated that the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had issued a directive to operatives from the State Intelligence Department to thoroughly investigat the threat allegations.

The investigation, according to the statement would later to the arrest of Musa and Orte.

“A 15-year-old suspect, Abdulraman Musa of Nguru, and Adamu Orte, a 60-year-old man from Machina, Yobe State, were arrested,” the statement added.

While Nguroje stated that the investigation is currently ongoing he pledged the command’s Commitment to fighting crime in the state just as the CPsaid the command was committed to ensuring the safety and security of the State’s residents.

He also noted that the suspects would be prosecuted after the investigation is concluded.
