Carles Perez Ruled Out of UEFA Conference League After Dog Bit His Manhood
Former Barcelona midfielder, Carles Perez has reportedly been ruled out of Thursday’s UEFA Conference League qualifier against Araz-Nakhchivan after he was hospitalised in Greece after being bitten by a dog on his manhood.
Perez was said to have been walking his own dog in Thermi, a suburb of Thessaloniki, on Tuesday when it got into a fight with another.
The 27-year-old tried separating his dog from the other during the attack when he sustained the injury.
He was taken to a private hospital in Panorama, a suburb near Thessaloniki with a “deep gash” that required six stitches.
Perez had joined the Aris FC, a Greek club on loan from Celta Vigo.
It was however, confirmed on Wednesday that he had suffered a “soft tissue infection” from the bite and may require a surgery later, although the injury is not life threatening.
Aris Manager, Marinos Ouzounidis confirmed that he had set Perez to start the Thursday game but would be dropping him following the incident.
“Carles would have been in the starting line-up. This incident happened but we can’t dwell on it any longer. My mind is working on alternative solutions and we have worked on them. That’s why I insist that it’s important to have players with personality. So I’m interested in the group of players that I will have at my disposal, to give the most they can.
