I Inherited Collapsed Infrastructure – Gov. Okpebholo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has attributed the deplorable condition of roads across the state to the failures of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.

According to the governor, what he met on the ground was a completely collapsed road infrastructure.

He made this known during an inspection tour of various failed road sections in Edo Central Senatorial District.

The governor assured residents that his administration is committed to fixing the damaged roads to boost economic activities and improve the lives of the people in the area.

Some of the failed road sections inspected by governor Okpebholo include the Onewa–Udomi–Ibhiolulu, Afada–Idumoza, Eko–Uwaya–Ewora roads. He also assessed the dilapidated stretches of the New Agbor Road and Illushin Road, all located in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area.

Not happy by the state of the roads, Governor Okpebholo questioned why the previous administration of Godwin Obaseki allowed such widespread decay, noting that Edo people endured eight years of infrastructural neglect under the former Governor.

The governor lamented that the condition of the roads has become a major source of hardship for motorists and residents alike. He, however, promised that with the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his government would begin immediate intervention.

Governor Okpebholo noted that the poor state of roads cuts across Edo Central, North, and South Senatorial Districts. He pledged that his administration would adopt a strategic approach to address these critical infrastructure challenges across the state.
