Tinubu Obsessed With Careless Spending – ADC Slams President Over ₦712bn Airport Renovation Plans
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has slammed President Tinubu over plans to channel over ₦712 billion to renovating the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi on Sunday, the ADC describes the project as a total waste of public funds.
According to the statement, the coalition party stated that the move is a clear indicator that Tinubu’s government is out of touch with the realities Nigerians are facing.
The party rejected the development as it accused the president of being obsessed with careless spending.
It argued that spending ₦712 billion on an airport which is already upgrades makes no sense when schools are underfunded, healthcare is unaffordable, and many Nigerians are suffering lack due to poor government decisions.
ADC countered the priority of the needs of the aviation sector over that of average Nigerians who are suffering a great lot.
It added that the sector is not in need of another gold-plated terminal but proper maintenance and the development of regional airports to improve connectivity across Nigeria.
The statement read in part; “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) strongly rejects the shocking ₦712 billion airport renovation plan announced by the Tinubu government, calling it yet another clear example of careless spending and lack of concern for the people. The party said the decision shows just how disconnected the APC-led government has become from the real struggles that ordinary Nigerians face every day.”
