A tanker explosion at Dan Magaji, Zaria, Kaduna State has cost the lives of many people, eyewitnesses reported.

The incident occurred at about 8:30am on Monday morning near Rochas Foundation School along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass, from Kwangila to Dan Magaji.

Reporting the incident via his X handle on Monday, a security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the accident involved two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.

According to him, eyewitnesses reported that the collision triggered five loud explosions, followed by a massive fire and thick smoke that covered the highway.

An eyewitness revealed that all the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns.

Meanwhile, emergency services and security personnel have cordoned off the area, advising motorists to avoid the route while rescue and recovery efforts continue.
