Many Yobe State communities on Friday, were submerged following a heavy downpour.

The communities included; Old Prison, Filin Mashe, Unguwar Makafi, Unguwar Jaje Bakin Kwari, and Afghanistan wards. Others affected are Tsangaya, Karofi, Bayan Garejin Dan Juma, Jigawa Bayan Makarahuta, and Tandari ward.

According to the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Mohammed Goje, the agency received alerts on the downpour in parts of the state in the early hours of Friday.

He revealed that the agency has deployed field team to assess the damage, adding that no lives had been lost as of the time of reporting.

“A detailed assessment is currently ongoing, and the government has pledged to provide life-saving support, protection, and response immediately,” he stated.
