The Rivers State Police Command has arrested one Kingsley Chinamezu for the brutal murder of his 44-year-old girlfriend, Miss Confidence Sunny, in Etche Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, revealed that the 23-year-old suspect killed his girlfriend with a machete on July 30 in Umuebule community.

She further revealed that the suspect had fled after allegedly committing the crime as he continued issuing threats to the victim’s family, boasting that he could harm them without consequence.

According to the PPRO, after a formal complaint from the deceased’s family, Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, assigned the case to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, AKU.

She further stated that operatives of the AKU, acting on credible intelligence, tracked and arrested the suspect on August 15 at his hideout in Egbeta village, Edo State.

According to her, evidence was being compiled while the suspect was undergoing further investigation and profiling for possible involvement in other crimes as he would be possibly prosecuted.
