A former Deputy governor of Edo state, Comrade Philip Shaibu has lost his WhatsApp account to internet fraudsters.

In a public notice issued on his social media page on Tuesday, Shaibu urged the public to ignore messages coming from the account as he is no longer in control of it.

According to the report, the hacker has tried to solicit financial aid from the Deputy’s contacts. In a screenshot from one of his contacts, the scammer had requested 850,000 naira to be sent to ‘someone’ with an account name Ifeanyi Emmanuel suspected however, to belong to him.

Shaibu is calling on his friends, family, and associates to disregard any of message from his WhatsApp account with phone number that ends with 119.

He wrote; “Please be informed that my WhatsApp line is currently experiencing some technical compromise. I kindly ask that you ignore any messages, requests, or promises that may appear to come from my account at this time, as they are not from me.

“I sincerely apologise for any confusion or inconvenience this may cause and deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation while this issue is being resolved.”
