The sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, Ruth Otabor is dead.

The sad news was announced by the family on Sunday via a statement by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, saying Ruth passed on to glory on Sunday, at about 6:30 a.m.

“With a heavy heart, the family regrets to announce the passing on to glory of their daughter, sister, and mother on this 31st Day of August, 2025 at about 06:30Hrs,” the statement read.

The family further requested privacy to the mourn their beloved.

“The family is presently grieving and will appreciate to be given a private moment to mourn the departed.

“The funeral arrangement will be communicated to the public in due course,” the statement added.

Ruth had been involved in a tragic accident just weeks earlier with the Dangote cement trailer near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025

According to eyewitnesses, the heavy-duty truck crushed her leg before it was eventually stopped by a bystander which led to the amputation of the young lady’s leg.

The unfortunate incident involving the tailer happened just six days after Ruth graduated from Auchi Polytechnic.

Phyna had taken to the internet to call the attention of Aliko Dangote to the incident lamenting that her sister was abandoned at the hospital. However, Dangote would later reach out and pledge to cover all of Ruth’s hospital expenses.

Sadly, the promising young lady could not make it as she lost her life leaving her family and friends in mourning.
