United Kingdom -based Business Mogul,Azubike Daniel, popularly known as Zubitech Global, has declared utmost support for Mr. Jeremiah Obaji Nworu, who embarked on a “Trek-a-thon” five days ago.

Nworu, an Ebonyi-born, Lagos-based businessman, started trekking from Lagos last Friday to honor the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for the remarkable work he has done in the state since taking office.

The businessman particularly expressed gratitude to the governor for restoring peace in Effium, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Ebonyi, which is his hometown.

However, his adventure drew a lot of concerns and criticisms as many said he was chasing clout while other said he needed the governor’s recognition.

On Tuesday, Zubitech questioned why Nworu should be persecuted simply because he chose to show his appreciation to the governor for bringing peace to his homeland.

He stated; “A young Ebonyi business man started a Trekkton 11days ago trekking from lagos to Abakaliki Ebonyi state to thank the Governor for restoring peace in his community at Effium after decades of communal cr!sis.

“This young man started facing backlashes from day one. His critics started by saying he’s jobless. Some said its not possible, while others were concerned about his safety given to the security situation of the country lately”.

Zubitech further noted that the Ezza/Effium crisis which may seem very little to outsiders was a huge disaster which makes it a great feat that the governor quenched the fire and Nworu has taken it up to appreciate him.

Ezza-Effium and Effium clans of Ebonyi state went into war since January 2021 resulting in the loss of lives and property worth billions of Naira destroyed.

Stemming from land disputes and ethnic tensions, the conflict resulted in numerous deaths and displacement.

In its cause, the communities incurred accusations of human rights violations by the Nigerian Army.

The war lasted for years untill earlier in 2025 when the state governor, Francis Nwifuru signed into law creation of new 5 autonomous communities in the LGA as a step to end the age long communal crisis in the area.

He said; “I am particularly excited for a lot of reasons. Number one is that we have been able to champion peace with dignity and respect for humanity. The case of Effium and formerly known and called as Ezza-Effium before, is a very unfortunate incident.

“It is an incident caused by two individuals, people that were struggling for control of market and revenues in the motor park at Effium market and nobody knew that the case would turn out to be a very critical communal crisis the way it is now and it has consumed a lot of lives which no one ever wished for.”

Nwifuru was able to make peace through land demarcation and dialogue which Nworu says is his major push for the trekking adventure to show the Governor how grateful he, on behalf of his clan men and women, remain.

In his statement, Zubitech criticized those criticizing the Nworu for choosing the best suitable way for him to express his gratitude adding that;

“Yesterday, he was already headed to Onitsha after he was spottsd dancing with some of his supporters in Asaba, Delta state. Many people who were doubting and castigating him still went on to say he is lying. Some said he thinks they are kids that he will trick with lies. Hmmmmm

“My question is, must we always criticise?
That you can’t do it does not mean others can’t.”

He also recalled how someone had trekked from Kano to Abuja in 2015 to honor the now late former president, Buhari stating that Nworu is not the first to embark on a trekking adventure to honor a leader.

He added; “This is not the first time that someone is trekking from one state to another.

“Remember in 2015, someone trekked from Kano to Abuja to celebrate M.Buhari’s victory.
Another incident of such have also happened recently. As a matter of fact, someone is currently travelling from Nigeria to America with bicycle currently. You can Google it.”

Zubitech questioned why Nworu was worth the criticizing from different people adding that it is likely due to the fact that he is from Ebonyi state.

He said; ” Ndi ngbu is always doing everything to discredit Ebonyi state and her people . But The truth is, no one can dim our lights.

“A simple search on Google maps will tell you that from lagos to Abakaliki by foot is just 6days If you trekk continuously non stoping.

“This young man has been on the road for 11days now yet Kwarikwatas are doubting him.

“Anyways, the most important thing is that he is resolute in his plight and no form of doubt or tantrum thrown at him will stop him from fulfilling this mission.”

He wished the hero well on his journey pledging solidarity alongside many other Ebonyians as he described him (Nworu) as a “go getter”.
