Gov Adeleke Restores Peace in PDP

‎The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke has successfully resolved internal disputes within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Ife Federal Constituency ahead of the 2026 elections.

‎According to a statement by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, the reconciliation was achieved during a high-powered meeting which brought together leading stakeholders of the ruling party.

‎According to Governor Adeleke, the earlier rift was as the result of miscommunication and external interference.

‎He therefore, urged the party members to be vigilant and resist efforts to divide the party.

‎He said; “Throughout this meeting today, I saw Ile Ife PDP very truly united. I listen to all the leaders here and I see clearly a communication gap among the leaders. There is also a strong sign of an outsider plot to divide Ife PDP.”

‎To the party leaders, Adeleke charged them  to double up their mobilisation efforts, as he emphasized that his administration had already delivered significant benefits to Ife land and would continue to do more.

‎According to him, “Ile Ife is a PDP territory. Go back and sustain the tempo. I commend the elders and leaders, the senatorial leader, the local party chairmen, the elected party chairmen, party chiefs and operatives. Go back and continue working for the victory of the party.”

‎Sunday Bisi, the State Chairman of the party, referred to the vote of no confidence which triggered the disagreement as a family affair.

‎He said; “All parties have demonstrated true love for the party. We are glad that all issues have been ironed out.

‎“It is the resolution of this meeting that all statutory meetings for party mobilisation should reconvene and all party members and leaders should decisively frown at any act capable of misinterpretation as anti-party activity.”

‎At the gathering, participants declared the crisis fully resolved, adopting a collective decision to put disagreements aside and focus on victory in the forthcoming polls.

‎Those who attended the meeting included, the Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, the Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi, the State Party Chairman, Sunday Bisi, and the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye.

‎Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Kazeem Akinleye, the Chairman of the Commissioners’ Forum, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, as well as other senior PDP stalwarts.

‎Last week, the Ife Federal Constituency of the PDP leadership had passed a vote of no confidence on the state’s Deputy governor, Kola Adewusi and two other party chieftains for anti-party activities.

‎The trio were accused of fraternising with erstwhile PDP members from the constituency who had since defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

‎However, Governor Adeleke has expressed confidence in the activities and conducts of Adewusi.
