I Have Buried the Hatchet With Wike – Fubara Confirms
The governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has confirmed that he and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, have resolved their political differences.
Fubara said he has “buried the hatchet” with Wike as he described it as a key step towards lasting peace in the state.
In a statewide broadcast on Friday, Fubara said the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Tinubu had been enormously challenging but ultimately allowed all parties to reconcile.
He said; “In the course of the six-month period, Mr. President graciously brokered the peace process with all the parties successfully. Our Leader, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly and I, as your Governor, have all accepted to bury the hatchet and embrace peace and reconciliation in the best interest of our dear Rivers State.”
At about 11:05 am on Friday, Fubara landed in Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers state after Tinubu called off the emergency rule on the state following a political crisis that had erupted.
Although the president stated that the lifting of the rule was effective from September 18th, Fubara formerly resumed office today, 19th September. Alongside the governor, other members of his government including his deputy were reinstated, too.
