Over 100 APC Members Defect to NNPP
Over 100 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Tarai in Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano state have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP).
They were warmly welcomed by the Kano State Commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Adamu Kibiya.
As contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Balarabe Kiru, on Wednesday in Kano, the defectors included an APC woman leader, Hajiya Sabuwa Tarai.
The statement read, “Kano State Commissioner, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, has received over one hundred APC Supporters from Tarai in Kibiya Local Government Area under the party woman Leader who decamped into NNPP.”
According to Kiru, the defectors cited the development projects and programmes executed by Gov. Yusuf’s administration as the reason for their decision to join NNPP.
“We are impressed by the numerous projects executed by Gov. Yusuf at the local government and state level,” the woman leader said.
The commissioner assured the defectors of equal treatment and welcomed them to the NNPP family, urging them to work together for the party’s progress.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Enlightenment, Hajiya Bintoto, who also welcomed the nee members assured them that the party will find a better place for them to stay and give their maximum contributions.
Earlier, the NNPP Chairman of Kibiya Local Government Area, Sabo Abdullahi, expressed delight to see people join the party due to the good work of His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in transforming the state.
The massive defection is coming one week after no fewer than 650 members of the NNPP defected to the APC in Gobirawa Ward, Dala Local Government Area, and parts of Fagge and Ungoggo Local Government Areas of Kano State.
