Int’l Accounting Day: NUASA Hails ICAN, ANAN, Other Industry Leaders

The Nigerian Universities Accounting Students Association (NUASA National) has joined accountants across the world to mark the International Accounting Day 2025, extending heartfelt appreciation to ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, and other professional and industry leaders for their enduring commitment to the growth of the accounting profession and the empowerment of students nationwide.

In a statement issued by the National President, Temple Daniel Oghenerioborue, NUASA acknowledged the crucial role of professional bodies and stakeholders in mentoring, training, and supporting young accountants.

“On behalf of NUASA National, we extend heartfelt appreciation to ICAN, ANAN, ACCA, and other professional bodies for their unwavering commitment to mentorship, education, and inclusivity,” the statement read. “Your continued investment in student development has built the strong foundation upon which we now stand.”

The President also used the occasion to celebrate NUASA’s Chapter Presidents, Executives, and Members across all institutions in Nigeria, describing them as “the heartbeat of the association” and “the living proof that NUASA’s impact transcends offices and titles.”

NUASA further acknowledged the contributions of stakeholders, alumni, mentors, and institutional partners who have worked collaboratively to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice.

Reaffirming the association’s focus on innovation and student growth, Mr Oghenerioborue restated NUASA’s commitment to the ELEVATE Agenda, which emphasises Empowerment, Leadership, Education, Voice, Alignment, Transformation, and Excellence.

Under this vision, NUASA National is pursuing strategic initiatives such as the NUASA E-Library, National Mentorship Network, and the Career & Employability Summit — projects designed to strengthen learning, professional readiness, and engagement within the accounting student community.

“As we celebrate International Accounting Day, we take deliberate effort to appreciate those who built our foundation and made our progress possible. Together, we will continue to ELEVATE the accounting profession — from the classroom to the boardroom,” the statement concluded.
