Harrison Gwamnishu In Fresh Controversy Over Alleged Diversion of ₦5.4 Million Ransom Money

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu is currently trending online after being accused of withholding ₦5.4 million from the ransom money raised for the release of a kidnapped couple in Edo State.

According to reports, the family and community members contributed funds to secure the freedom of the victims and handed part of the money to Gwamnishu to help facilitate the process. While the pregnant woman was later released, her husband reportedly remained in captivity, sparking outrage and allegations that the activist diverted ₦5.4 million out of the total amount raised.

Gwamnishu has since spoken out, strongly denying the claims. He maintains that he stole nothing, insisting that everything he did was voluntary and without payment. He also explained that his silence was to protect the safety of the second victim still in captivity, not to cover up any wrongdoing.

The situation has escalated further as Gwamnishu is now reportedly in police custody in Benin, Edo State. Nigerians are closely watching, awaiting the moment he will speak officially and tell his own side of the story, shedding light on the sequence of events and clarifying the fate of the alleged ₦5.4 million.

The controversy has stirred intense reactions across social media, with calls for full transparency and a proper investigation into the matter. As the drama unfolds, all eyes remain on the authorities and Gwamnishu himself to uncover the full truth and resolve lingering doubts about the alleged misappropriation of the ransom funds.
