According to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ), the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos has arrested Adenike Atanda, the wife of FIJ senior reporter Sodeeq Atanda, alongside their nine-month-old baby.
FIJ reports that the arrest took place on Monday evening in the Owutu area of Ikorodu, Lagos, after police officers tracked them to their neighbourhood. Neither Adenike Atanda nor the infant is a journalist.
As at the time of filing this report, FIJ says it has yet to ascertain the offence for which the woman and her baby were arrested.
Sodeeq Atanda is an Iwo-born journalist and a senior reporter with the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, widely recognised for investigative reporting in the public interest.
