Wike Calls on PDP Leaders to Resolve Internal Crisis Before 2027

Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has urged leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party to quickly address its internal disputes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister who spoke on Monday during a media interaction at his office in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, warned that failure to do so could cost the party its chances of winning major political offices.

“We have a leadership that is not focused, we have a leadership that does not know what to do or take any suggestions. If the leadership is committed and comes back to say we have made a mistake, why is it that things are happening this way, and what do we do to make corrections?

“It is not just to take over the government; you have to position yourself. If the leadership is like that, you say look by 2027, it is likely that we may not make it, but are we going to allow the party to die?

“Can’t we start to build up and let us make the right decision against 2027. It is all dependent on the leadership that is what I will say,” Wike stated.

Wike further criticised the PDP National Convention held on November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State while also accusing the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, of seeking total control of the party and allegedly securing an ex parte court order from an Ibadan court to enable the convention to proceed.

The PDP has been having internal crisis since the 2023 general elections.
