Chika Nwoba Sacked By His Club Over Alleged Financial Misappropriation
Abakaliki, Ebonyi State — The Ebonyi Prestigious Club of Nigeria (EPC) has announced the removal of Comrade Chika Nwoba as its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, in a leadership restructuring that also saw the removal of the club’s secretary.
The development was made public on Saturday on the club’s official Facebook page, following a decision made during the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Induction, where members voted unanimously to suspend and remove Nwoba from his position. In his place, the club appointed Architect Izekwe Clinton as the new Chairman of the Board of Trustees. According to the club’s leadership, the decision followed ongoing allegations of financial malfeasance and inconsistencies related to Nwoba’s tenure concerns which drew significant discussion among members before the final resolution.
In addition to the change at the top, the EPC also relieved the current secretary of his duties as part of a wider leadership reshuffle. Though the club’s official statement did not disclose specific details of the alleged issues, the leadership said that the change was necessary “to preserve the integrity and credibility of the institution.”
In a video announcement shared by the club, members affirmed the changes as the club’s spokesperson stated that several new members were screened while 6 were inducted.
The spokesperson further noted that the individuals who were “suspended” had welcomed the development as according to him, the club was transparent and open with its processes and decisions.
Supporters of the club expressed mixed reactions to the announcement. Some welcomed the move as a positive step toward accountability and transparency, while others called for a full public clarification of the financial issues cited by the leadership.
The spokesperson for the club also emphasized that the AGM’s decisions were made in line with the club’s constitution and followed clear processes. He added that the new leadership team would focus on strengthening the club’s programmes, boosting member engagement, and enhancing its community impact.
The EPC, known in social circles for its network of professionals, youths, and business leaders in Ebonyi State, often undertakes community development and social outreach initiatives. How the leadership changes will affect ongoing projects remains a topic many members are watching closely.
Further updates and details are expected in a full statement from the club’s national secretariat later.
