Wike Breaks Up With Wike, Reveals Next Move

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he has parted ways politically with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the announcement while addressing supporters over the weekend in Ahoada Local Government Area, stressing that he would personally support a candidate he trusts to succeed Fubara. He emphasized that he would not repeat what he described as the mistakes of the 2023 elections.

According to Wike, previous agreements with the governor were violated, making further political cooperation impossible. “We will not make the mistake we made in 2023,” he said, adding that no individual would dictate political decisions to him in Rivers State.

He also dismissed claims that political slogans and rallies automatically secure electoral tickets, stressing that political decisions would be guided strictly by trust and interest. “Politics is about interest. I will support a candidate I can rely on and sleep with his eyes closed,” Wike added.

While reaffirming his support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term, Wike clarified that backing the president does not automatically translate into support for Fubara’s re-election bid, citing Tinubu’s goodwill towards Rivers State, including his appointment as FCT Minister.
