Police Arrest Two Kidnappers In Ebonyi After Allegedly Kidnapping 6-Year-Old Kid
Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested two persons for allegedly kidnapping a six- year- old- girl and demanding N50,000,000 ransom from the victim’s family.
Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu in a statement named the suspects as Okafor Ofobuike,23 and Chisom Daniel, 23.
Ukandu said the suspects abducted the child in her mother’s shop when they came there as customers and took her to their hideout and demanded for a N50, 000,000 ransom.
“Ebonyi State Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in the New Year with the successful rescue of a kidnapped child.
“On January 6,2026, Mrs. Obasi Daberechi reported that her six-year-old daughter was abducted from her shop at Onuebonyi, Abakaliki.
“The suspects, who posed as customers, subsequently demanded a ransom of N50,000,000 for the child’s release. Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad, through painstaking and diligent investigation, traced the kidnappers to their hideout at Agogboriga Layout, Abakaliki. The child was rescued unhurt.
“Two male suspects:Okafor Ofubuike and Chisom Daniel ,were arrested in connection with the kidnapping.
“They are currently under investigation and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations”, the PPRO said.
