Malami Under Fresh Probe by DSS as EFCC Uncovers Arms at Kebbi Residence

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mallam Abubakar Malami (SAN), is reportedly facing a new investigation following the discovery of arms and ammunition at his residence in Kebbi State.

According to a report published by The Nation on Monday, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered the w+apons during a search of Malami’s country home in the state.

The report said the EFCC subsequently transferred the recovered arms to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation, explaining that the anti-graft agency lacks the constitutional mandate to probe issues relating to illegal possession of w%apons.

Although the exact quantity of the arms and amm¥nition could not be independently confirmed, The Nation disclosed that they were reportedly significant enough to warrant a full-scale investigation by the DSS.

This development comes barely a week after Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, granted Malami, his wife, Asabe Bashir, and their son, Abdulaziz Malami, bail in an ongoing fra¥d case. The court fixed their bail at N500 million each, with two sureties per defendant.
