Kogi Governor Ododo Mourns Death of Three APC Chieftains

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has mourned the passing of three prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The deceased, identified as Onojah James Ignatius, Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, and Alhaji Alih Atabo, were announced dead on Monday in an official statement released by the Kogi State Government. The statement was issued in Lokoja by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, who did not provide details on the circumstances of their deaths.

Ignatius served as the Governor’s Special Adviser and previously chaired Igalamela Local Government Area. Suleiman was a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, while Atabo held the position of APC Chairman for Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.

Describing the loss as devastating, Fanwo said the state had lost three outstanding individuals who devoted their lives to public service and party development. He noted that each of them demonstrated exceptional loyalty, dedication, and commitment to the progress of Kogi State and the APC.

According to him, Ignatius was widely respected as a grassroots leader and administrator whose dedication to community advancement and effective governance defined his career. Suleiman, he said, was known for carrying out his responsibilities with humility, diligence, and a strong sense of duty, consistently prioritising public interest. Atabo was described as a dependable party leader whose efforts significantly contributed to the unity and growth of the APC at the ward level.

Fanwo conveyed Governor Ododo’s condolences on behalf of the state government and the people of Kogi to the families of the deceased, members of the APC, and all those affected by the loss. He also sympathised with the people of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina communities.

He added that the state deeply values the contributions of the late party leaders, noting that their commitment, sacrifice, and service would remain a lasting source of inspiration.
