The Executive Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, High Chief Chinedu Augustine Uburu, has been honoured with the 2025 Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year Award, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, people-oriented governance and remarkable development strides at the grassroots.

‎Presenting the award, at the Chairman’s office at the ALGON house Abakaliki, the CEO of Newsmax Nigeria Mr. Azubuike Daniels noted that High Chief Uburu was selected following a voting process and rigorous assessment of performance indicators, including infrastructural development, healthcare delivery, education support, youth empowerment, staff welfare, security collaboration and effective utilization of public resources. They described him as a chairman whose leadership has translated policies into visible impact for the people of Ebonyi Local Government Area noting that his administration has set a standard for administrative competence at the local government level.

‎While receiving the award, High Chief Chinedu Augustine Uburu expressed gratitude to God and dedicated the honour to the people of Ebonyi Local Government Area, describing the recognition as a collective achievement. He commended the support of the Ebonyi State Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogonna Nwifuru, for providing an enabling environment for local governments to thrive.

‎According to him, the award will serve as further motivation to deepen service delivery and sustain people-focused programmes across all wards of the local government. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and sustainable development, noting that more impactful projects are underway.
