Troops Neutralise Terrorist, Destroy Secret Medical Facility in North West
Troops of the Operation FANSAN YAMMA Joint Task Force in the North-West have eliminated a suspected terrorist and dismantled a hidden medical facility used by criminal elements during coordinated operations carried out between January 21 and 22.
The development was revealed in a statement issued by the operation’s Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewusi, and shared on the Nigerian Army’s official X platform late on Thursday.
According to the statement, personnel of the 8 Division Garrison Strike Force, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services, carried out a fighting patrol in Sokoto State. During the operation, one terrorist was killed, while others escaped into nearby forests with gunshot injuries.
The troops reportedly engaged the criminals in Gundumi village, located in Isa Local Government Area, where they recovered six AK-47 rifles and three motorcycles from the scene.
In another related operation, soldiers from the 1 Brigade, working alongside the Headquarters Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA Mobile Strike Team, carried out a raid in the Bingi Forest.
Acting on credible intelligence indicating that wounded terrorists were being secretly treated in the area, the troops uncovered and destroyed a makeshift medical centre believed to have been used by the group.
Captain Adewusi said the action dealt a major setback to the terrorists’ support structure and demonstrated the task force’s swift and effective response to security threats.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorist networks and restore peace and stability across the North-West region.
