Enugu Gov Allegedly Forces Teachers to Register with APC or Lose Job(Photo)
Allegations have emerged on social media suggesting that teachers in Enugu State were being coerced into registering for the All Progressives Congress (APC) or risk consequences regarding their employment.
Posts circulating online claim that educators were asked to complete the APC e-registration form, including submitting their National Identification Number (NIN) and those of family members. Some reports suggest that failure to comply could affect their jobs.
Tweeting on X on Saturday evening, a user and the CEO of Educare, Alex Onyia(@winekviv) wrote;
“Enugu State government is threatening their teachers to fill in APC E-registration forms with their NIN and that of their family members or risk losing their jobs.
“I think this is unfair to them.”
The posts have drawn criticism from users who argue that such a directive would be unfair and an infringement on workers’ rights. Others noted that party membership forms do not typically single out any specific profession while others said it was happening in other locations too.
Meanwhile, another user who replied to the tweet, @Jamesmamah confirmed the speculation with a proof stating that his mom was given one of such forms as she is a teacher.
“For anyone who doubts, here is the form. My mum got one, I don’t know what Peter Mbah wants to turn Enugu into, smh,” he replied.

Additional online reports claimed that local government staff, including teachers under the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), were allegedly instructed to attend APC registration exercises with personal details such as NIN, voter cards, and bank account information. However, no formal confirmation has come from the governor’s office or state authorities.
Officials from the APC in Enugu State have dismissed these claims, describing them as unfounded and politically motivated, and emphasized that participation in the membership drive is voluntary.
Governor Peter Mbah, who joined the APC in October 2025, has actively supported the party’s membership rollout as part of efforts to build grassroots strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At present, there is no official confirmation from the Enugu State Government linking teachers’ employment status to political party registration.
