The family of legendary Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has dismissed widespread reports on social media claiming that the veteran film star has died.

The false claim began circulating online after a misleading post and an old photo of the actor were shared on several blogs and messaging platforms, sparking panic among fans and followers who quickly began sending condolence messages.

Reacting to the speculation, Edochie’s eldest son, Leo Edochie, addressed the issue in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

He described the reports as completely untrue and condemned those responsible for spreading what he called a malicious rumour.

According to him, he had been flooded with calls and text messages from concerned people asking about his father’s wellbeing.

Leo stressed that the respected actor is alive, healthy, and going about his normal activities.

He also criticised those behind the fake news, warning against wishing death on others and urging the public to stop sharing unverified information online.

The clarification has since eased fears among fans, many of whom had earlier expressed shock over the viral claim.

Pete Edochie, regarded as one of Nollywood’s most iconic figures, remains active and in good health, his family confirmed.
