40-Year Old Man Goes Missing After Police Arrest in Lagos

Police Arrest 26-Year-Old Native Doctor For Killing Pregnant Nurse in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Chibunna Nwafor, in connection with the killing of a pregnant nurse in Ogbunike, located in Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, popularly known as “Offonwadile,” is believed to be a native doctor. Police allege that he worked with other accomplices to attack and kill the nurse before taking parts of her remains to his shrine.

The incident reportedly occurred in July 2025 after the victim was lured to a residence by a friend under the guise of providing medical assistance. That friend was later apprehended with the help of local residents on July 29, 2025, while Nwafor allegedly went into hiding.

In a statement issued on Friday, police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed that the prime suspect was eventually tracked down and arrested on February 11, 2026, following what he described as sustained intelligence gathering and support from members of the public.

According to the statement, the suspect was captured at his hideout in Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Police authorities confirmed that he has since been transferred to a higher investigative unit for further questioning and discreet handling of the case.

The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, commended community members whose cooperation and timely information aided the arrest. He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to ensure that all those linked to the crime are identified and prosecuted.

Investigations are ongoing, with the police promising to provide additional updates as the case progresses.
