Court Adjourns Malami’s Alleged Terrorism Trial to March 10, Orders Prosecution to Open Case

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday postponed proceedings in the alleged terrorism case involving former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulaziz, fixing March 10, 2026, for continuation of trial.

The case was put off after the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, requested additional time to properly review the case materials. Oyedepo told the court that the matter had only recently been moved from the Department of State Services to the Department of Public Prosecutions, and that he needed time to acquaint himself with the details.

Lawyer to the defendants, Mr Adedayo Adedeji, raised no objection to the request for adjournment. However, he asked the court to dismiss the charges if the prosecution fails to proceed on the next scheduled date, arguing that the case must be pursued diligently.

In her ruling, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the application and adjourned the matter to March 10 for trial, directing the prosecution to formally open its case on that date.
