Oyo Man Kills Brother For Shooting Him in His Dream
A 43-year-old man has been taken into custody in Sepeteri, Oyo State, after allegedly killing his elder brother in a shocking incident reportedly triggered by a dream.
The suspect, identified as Lateef Suleiman of Alegunlode Compound in Sepeteri, was said to have woken up claiming that his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, had shot him while he slept. Acting on that belief, police say he confronted the deceased shortly afterward.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the incident was first reported by a resident of the community, Badmus Yunisa.
According to the police account, Suleiman allegedly approached his brother while he was seated, picked up a large stone and struck him on the head before fleeing the area.
The victim was immediately rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for medical attention. However, he was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Officers from the Ago-Amodu Divisional Headquarters responded to the report, visiting both the scene of the attack and the hospital as part of initial investigations.
Police later apprehended Suleiman, who is said to have admitted to the act and is currently assisting detectives with their inquiries.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The command assured residents that a thorough probe is underway and that the case will be handled in accordance with the law.
