You will recall that after the Presidential FA Cup final match between Abakaliki FC and Kwara United, which took place at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, the governor of Ebonyi State, the Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in his magnanimous act as always, appreciated everybody involved in the game. One of such groups is the Abakaliki FC supporters club.

Gov. Nwifuru gave out a whopping sum of 4 million naira to the supporters club. Today, the fans club sat over the money. It came as a surprising package to every fan available at the meeting:

1. The chairman of the supporters club claimed that he gave out a whopping sum of 1 million naira to Lagos Agbero people so that the supporters club would not be attacked. Surprising right? The money was released here in Abakaliki. How come one million naira was given to Agbero in Lagos?

2. He said 1 million naira was also given to House of Assembly supporters who came to Lagos with the House of Assembly coaster bus. This is a separate body we know nothing about.

3. He said also that one million naira was given to supporters club, Lagos branch. There’s no such thing as Lagos supporters club. No other branch of the supporters club exists except those who usually gather at the stadium here in Abakaliki.

4. Like play, like joke, 3 million naira is down from the 4 million. Then, the remaining goes to Abakaliki FC supporters club, Abakaliki branch. Even Jesus Christ will be shocked at the rate people open their eyes wide, in a broad day light and make away with something belonging to a group of people. A total of 43 supporters went to Lagos, 5,000 was given each person as feeding money in a day. 15,000 for the three days. If you had no extra cash, your name is sorry. So the total amount to be disbursed to supporters club is 20k each from the 4 million naira. Even when unimagianry group is getting 1m.

5. At this point, I have concluded that anywhere I see youth contesting election I will vote against the person. How do some people sleep at night? I went to Lagos not having in mind of receiving any money but for the joy of the game, now, money is involved, why not do what’s right just for once? Is this really the country we’re building for our children? I’m speechless!

God will be surprised at what his creatures in Nigeria have become. Cold is just colding me as I write this. I will have to pour water into my eyes to be sure that I’m not dreaming over this.
