Niger State PDP Youth Leader Defects to ADC

The youth leader of the Niger State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Shitu Adamu Evuti, has officially resigned from the party and joined the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In the resignation letter dated 18th July 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Evuti/Kpada Ward, Lapai Local Government Area, Evuti cited unresolved internal crises at the national level as his push for defection.

He further declared that his resignation takes immediate effect as he thanked his community, the people of Evuti/Kpada Ward, Lapai LGA, and the entire Niger South Senatorial District for their unwavering support and confidence in him over the years.

To the PDP, Evuti expressed gratitude for the opportunity he was given first as the party’s candidate for the Niger State House of Assembly election in 2019 and his subsequent appointment as State Youth Leader in 2023.

Describing the ADC as a progressive alternative, Evuti explained that his resignation came after wide consultations with constituents, political allies, and key stakeholders as he pleaded for forgiveness from everyone he may have hurt.

The former youth leader stated that his service to the people does not end with his defection as he would still serve the people under the ADC.
