Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has confirmed that the 5,394 teachers recently recruited by his administration will officially resume duties on Monday, September 22, 2025, in line with the reopening of schools in the state.

Governor Otti made the announcement on Sunday, September 14, during an unannounced worship service at Salvation Ministries, 135 Okigwe Road, Aba.

Speaking to the congregation, the Governor stressed that the recruitment process was conducted transparently, with merit as the sole criterion.

“There was no Governor’s list, no Deputy Governor’s list, no Senator’s list like it used to be in the past. Everything was done transparently. You apply, you write the test, you sit for the interview, and then we take people from number one until we draw the line,” he explained to loud applause.

Governor Otti said the recruitment exercise was open to all residents of Abia State and was aimed at improving the quality of teaching and learning in public schools.
