No King in Igbo Land Can Tie Olubadan’s Shoe Lace – Akinleye Slams Peter Obi
HRM Oba Omotooyosi Bayo M Akinleye, the olukosi of Ilukosi-Ijesa has declared that no king in Igbo land can tie the shoe lace of Olubadan.
Stating this while he slammed Labour Party’s Peter Obi for calling Olubadan his brother in a congratulatory message which he posted on his X account on Saturday, Akinleye called Peter Obi uncultured.
Obi had posted a congratulatory message to Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I on his installation as the 44th Olubadan.
He wrote; “I warmly congratulate my dear brother, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, on his installation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. His ascension to this revered throne is a celebration for the people of Ibadan and a source of pride for the entire Yoruba nation and Nigeria as a whole.
”The enthronement of Oba Ladoja, a distinguished statesman with vast experience in business, politics, and governance, symbolises the enduring harmony between tradition and modernity in our society.”
Ij his message, Obi said that the Olubadan, Oba Ladoja who is a former Governor of Oyo State, played a vital role in shaping the growth and development of Ibadan.
He added, “I am confident that the same spirit of vision, dedication, and service that defined his public leadership will now find fuller expression in his new role as custodian of Ibadan’s rich cultural and traditional heritage.”
The former Anambra Governor extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Ibadan and Oyo State “as they welcome this new dawn in their history”.
”It is my earnest prayer that Oba Ladoja’s reign will be long, peaceful, and fruitful, bringing enduring blessings to the land and its people,” he concluded
Reacting to the message, Akinleye said it was uncultured of Obi to call Olubadan his brother with the same mouth he called Jonathan his brother who is 67 years old.
He stressed that apart from Olubadan being way older, “no king in Igbo land can tie his majesty’s shoe lace.”
According to him, “Calling His Imperial Majesty Olubadan your brother with the same mouth you used in calling a 67years old Jonathan your elder brother shows how uncultured you are, apart from His Majesty age gap, there is no King in Ibo land that can unlace Olubadan shoes.”
