Fuel Subsidy Removal Enabling Abia, Other States Commission Many Projects – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has said that Abia State and other parts of Nigeria are immensely benefitting from the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The President said the policy has enabled state governments to execute key development projects.
Tinubu stated this on Friday during a one-day official visit to Abia State, where he was represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi.
Recall that the president ended Nigeria’s longstanding fuel subsidy declaring that Subsidy is gone, during his inauguration speech on May 29, 2023.
The move was greatly criticized by some Nigerians, who accused the president of not implementing adequate measures to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal after its removal thereby subjecting average citizens to hardship.
Meanwhile, on Friday Umahi represented the president in commissioning different projects, including the newly remodeled Dr Michael Okpara Auditorium and completed road projects.
While at it, Umahi said Tinubu’s decision is beginning to yield positive results.
“The removal of the fuel subsidy is gaining momentum for projects, and we are beginning to see the benefits here in Abia State.
“The same progress is being experienced in other states across Nigeria. I am committed to working with your governor to ensure that Abia State fully reclaims its potential,” he said.
