One Emmanuel Egbosimba, 42, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court under Mr L. A. Owolabi for allegedly defiling his 19-year-old biological daughter for a period of five years.
According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, Egbosimba committed the evil act at 29B, Olusesi Close, Ile Ewe, Ejigbo, Lagos, starting from 2020, when the victim was just 14 years old, and continued until 2025.
The prosecutor revealed to the court that the victim was subjected to the sexual assault after Egbosimba’s wife, her mother died.
He further explained that the victim could only gather courage to report to the police now as she was threatened with death if she ever disclosed the abuse to anyone.
During the investigation, the victim reportedly told officers that her father forced himself on her almost every day since her mother’s passing.
ASP Ademigbuji stated that the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes severe penalties for sexual offences, including rape and defilement.
The defendant’s pleas were ignored and the court ordered Egbosimba’s remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
The case was adjourned to November 17, 2025, for further mention.
