Pastor Chris Okafor Turns Self In to Police Over Rape Allegations
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has presented himself to the police following allegations bordering on multiple rape and other offences likely to disrupt public peace.
Police sources disclosed that the case has now been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing Zone 2, AIG Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.
The development followed Okafor’s failure to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday, despite an earlier invitation issued on Sunday. According to the police, the pastor later turned up on Tuesday.
Speaking during an interview with TVC on Wednesday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, explained that Okafor had initially communicated through his lawyer that he would honour the invitation on Monday but failed to do so, prompting instructions for his arrest.
“We waited for him on Monday, but he did not show up. I subsequently directed that he should be arrested. Later, he appeared yesterday,” Jimoh stated.
The commissioner added that the matter had earlier been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters, prompting the command to return the case to the AIG in charge, who is the supervising authority.
“I confirmed that the investigation had already been ongoing under the AIG’s command for about three weeks, so the matter was handed back to Zone 2,” he said.
Addressing concerns raised by alleged victims, Jimoh noted that complaints lodged via social media are now taken seriously by law enforcement to prevent situations that could escalate into public unrest.
The allegations against Okafor first surfaced in mid-December 2025, gaining traction on social media platforms. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala publicly accused the cleric of maintaining a prolonged sexual relationship with her since 2017, alleging broken marriage promises, the circulation of explicit materials, and the breakdown of her former marriage.
Amid rising public backlash, Okafor reportedly addressed members of his church on December 28, 2025, where he acknowledged past “errors,” knelt at the altar, and asked for forgiveness.
There are also reports that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is weighing possible disciplinary measures, while the pastor has temporarily stepped aside from his ministerial responsibilities pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that adequate security has been provided for the complainants, adding that investigations at SCID, Panti, and Zone 2 remain ongoing.
