Landlady Arrested For Allegedly Poisoning Tenant’s 3-Year-Old Son
The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 40-year-old woman, Nafisat Lateef, over the alleged poisoning of a three-year-old boy in the Omifon community, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday. He explained that the child is the son of one of the suspect’s tenants.
Police said the incident happened on Tuesday morning after a disagreement reportedly broke out between the suspect and the boy’s mother, identified as Rofiat.
According to the statement, the woman allegedly handed the child a liquid substance believed to be poisonous shortly after the altercation.
Moments later, the boy began vomiting and was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment.
Detectives were said to have launched a swift operation that led to the suspect’s arrest, while the substance suspected to be poison was also recovered as evidence.
Jimoh added that the woman remains in police custody and is assisting with the investigation. He noted that the case will be charged to court once inquiries are completed.
