Abia APC Pledges Full Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Elections
As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has affirmed its commitment to backing President Bola Tinubu as its sole candidate for the upcoming presidential poll.
The announcement came on Sunday during the party’s Stakeholders Pre-Congress Meeting, convened by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at his country residence in Bende Local Government Area.
Speaking to party members, Kalu encouraged stakeholders to stay focused and determined. He said, “Be strong, be courageous. We have everything it takes to deliver to the President even more than the 25% they are projecting.”
Kalu highlighted that the APC in Abia has already registered more than 160,000 members through its electronic registration drive. He noted that technical constraints, such as a limited number of National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment machines, had slowed the process.
“If we had more NIN machines, the party’s membership in the state would exceed one million,” he said.
He assured that membership numbers would continue to grow in the lead-up to the elections. “Between now and next year when the elections come, we will surprise the President with the number of members in this great party. This is a promise. We are moving forward steadily; there’s no turning back,” Kalu added.
To support the registration process, Kalu said his office had distributed over 400 tablets and other logistics. “The party belongs to all of you. My style of leadership empowers members to take part, and together we will strengthen structures at every level to ensure we deliver for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.
The Deputy Speaker also emphasised the importance of unity within the party, warning against factionalism. “Anyone operating a faction is not part of our party. We must work together to secure a decisive win in the state. The leadership insists on zero faction for APC,” he said.
In his remarks, the party’s National Welfare Secretary, Donatus Nwankpa, encouraged members to foster peace and cohesion, highlighting the need to strengthen the party’s position in Abia. “We have the responsibility to take over the Government House. Tinubu will win,” he added.
The meeting was attended by numerous APC stakeholders from across the state, reinforcing the party’s commitment to unity and preparation ahead of the elections.
