Lagos, Nigeria — March 5, 2026 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is in mourning after the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro, just hours before he was set to be inaugurated alongside other members of the party’s state executive.
Yesiro, who was re-elected to his position at the Lagos APC congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, on Tuesday, passed away unexpectedly ahead of the inauguration scheduled for Thursday at the party’s secretariat.
In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC described the loss as a “painful and tragic” blow, noting that Yesiro’s sudden departure comes at a time when his energy and dedication were most needed within the party.
“Yesiro’s passing is deeply shocking to all of us. He had just been entrusted with serving on the State Executive Council and was widely respected for his commitment to progressive politics,” the statement read.
Colleagues and party members remembered the late assistant publicity secretary as a humble and enthusiastic figure whose efforts contributed significantly to the APC’s operations in Lagos State. Though his time in office was about to begin, his readiness to serve reportedly won admiration across the party’s ranks.
The Lagos APC extended heartfelt condolences to Yesiro’s family, friends, and political associates, and prayed for strength for all those affected by the loss. The party leadership also affirmed its unity as it mourns the sudden death of one of its emerging leaders.
