‘We Are Going to Win’ — Tinubu Vows to Defeat Terrorists
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will not bow to terrorism or allow forces seeking to destabilise the nation to undermine its unity and sovereignty.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Monday night in Abuja while hosting religious and traditional leaders at an interfaith breaking of the fast held at the Presidential Villa. He commended the leaders for their roles in promoting peace, moral values and stability within their communities.
The president acknowledged that Nigeria is currently facing security challenges but insisted that terrorist groups are under increasing pressure from ongoing operations by security agencies. According to him, the desperation of such groups reflects the impact of intensified efforts to curb their activities.
“Yes, we are challenged. The terrorists are becoming desperate because they are being confronted and defeated,” Tinubu said, adding that despite the attacks, the country would not surrender to violent groups. He assured Nigerians that the government remained determined to secure the nation and ultimately overcome terrorism.
Beyond security concerns, Tinubu also spoke about the state of the economy, expressing optimism that recent reforms were beginning to produce positive outcomes. He said the administration would continue to use the mandate given to it by Nigerians to stabilise the economy and improve prosperity across the country.
The president expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, pledging to remain committed to his responsibilities. He also noted that economic conditions were gradually improving, adding that measures taken by the government were beginning to provide relief to pensioners and other vulnerable groups.
Tinubu further urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of ongoing reforms, stressing that his administration was focused on building a safer and more prosperous nation.
