King Mitchy Apologizes to VDM, Seyi Tinubu, Ooni of Ife After She ‘Died and Resurrected’

Content creator and philanthropist Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has issued a public apology addressing her recent online conduct and a widely‑shared video in which she was seen consuming a substance during a live broadcast.

In an Instagram video on Thursday, King Mitchy spoke directly to Nigerians and specifically apologised to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu; activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan; and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

In the video, she said, “Good morning Nigerians. I’m ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days I’ve thought about my behaviour and I know that I was wrong and I want to be held accountable. For the substance I took on live video, that was very wrong of me because there are young girls that are looking up to me one day and I know I disappointed a lot of people. That was wrong of me, I was wrong.”

She apologised to Seyi Tinubu, saying she regretted how she had spoken about him publicly and acknowledged his support. To the traditional ruler, she said she was sorry for bringing his name into the controversy, and to VeryDarkMan she expressed regret for criticising him, saying she now understood his advocacy and respect for his work.

The apology comes after several weeks of online dispute that began when King Mitchy announced that she had renovated a dilapidated school within six days and made comments that were widely interpreted as indirect criticism of VeryDarkMan’s activism. His response accused her of being used to improve the image of Seyi Tinubu’s administration, intensifying social media debate. She also shared what she described as a private conversation with the Ooni of Ife, which drew further attention and criticism.

The situation worsened when the influencer appeared distressed in a live video, consuming a substance believed by viewers to be bleach(hypo), prompting concern and alarm online. King Mitchy’s management later announced her death, a claim they corrected, confirming she was alive and recovering.

In response to the broader controversy, Seyi Tinubu released a statement denying any private dealings beyond a public meeting in which he provided support for her NGO activities, and he rejected insinuations that he was involved in a feud between her and VeryDarkMan.

King Mitchy’s apology marks an effort to take responsibility for her actions and clarify misunderstandings stemming from her online behaviour and interactions with prominent Nigerians.
