Military Nab Bandit TikToker ‘Sule Yellow’ After Ransom Pickup
The Nigerian military has arrested a suspected bandit popularly known as Sule Yellow, who allegedly used social media to flaunt activities linked to kidnapping operations.
The suspect, identified online by the TikTok handle @suleyellow6, was reportedly apprehended on Saturday, March 15, 2026, during a targeted intelligence-led operation carried out by troops after tracking his movements through online monitoring and other intelligence sources.
Security sources said the operation was initiated following information gathered from open-source intelligence, including activities traced to the suspect’s TikTok account where he frequently appeared in videos and live sessions alongside other suspected bandits.
Earlier in March, Sule Yellow was reportedly seen during a TikTok Live broadcast with individuals believed to be involved in criminal activities, openly discussing and displaying their actions in what observers described as a bold show of impunity.
According to reports, security operatives continued to monitor his movements after identifying him through his online presence. The breakthrough reportedly came when intelligence indicated that he had gone to collect ransom payment from the family of a kidnapped victim.
Troops subsequently tracked him and intercepted him while he was returning from the ransom collection, leading to his arrest.
Following the operation, the TikTok account associated with the suspect was deactivated and is no longer accessible to the public.
Sources familiar with the incident said the suspect, who had projected a fearless image online, appeared visibly shaken when he was taken into custody.
Eyewitness accounts circulating online suggested that he showed signs of distress during the arrest, reportedly trembling, fidgeting and struggling to communicate as security operatives questioned him.
The arrest has drawn attention to the growing use of social media platforms by criminal groups to publicise their activities and intimidate victims.
Security analysts say the operation also demonstrates how intelligence gathering, including monitoring of digital platforms, is increasingly being used by authorities to track and apprehend suspected criminals.
Authorities have not yet issued a detailed official statement regarding the arrest, but the suspect is currently in custody and is expected to undergo further interrogation as investigations continue.
Officials believe the development could provide useful leads into kidnapping networks operating in affected regions and may aid further security operations.
